A-S-P-I-R-E

To have a great ambition or ultimate goal; desire strongly: aspired to stardom.
2. To strive toward an end: aspiring to great knowledge.
3. To soar.

That is my word for 2012! I am going to soar to greater heights with my relationships with my friends, family, and my Father in Heaven and Savior. I am going to learn more about myself and the things that the Lord would have me do. I am aspiring to be His hands more and lift others and help them to soar :)

I have many ultimate goals for which I am aspiring this coming year! I want to show my gratitude each day for my blessings. I want to always be found in favor of my God. I want to always have His spirit with me and share it with others that they may feel His love for them. I want to see others as God sees them and love them as He loves them.

I want to accomplish a major goal that I still won't share on here...this one is most personal importance. I know that I can accomplish this goal with the Lords help.

I am aspiring to greater health for myself and my family. I am going to share this blessing with all that I can, that their families may also be blessed :)

One word

Last year, my word for the year that I decided to focus on was FORTIFY.... I focused my efforts in everything on fortifying myself, my family, my relationships....

The Lord has truly blessed our family this year... I believe that FORTIFY was the perfect word and so much has been fortified, just like a castle :) We have grown closer together as a family and enjoyed so many wonderful, strengthening times.

We have been so blessed to attend the temple regularly, even though, since July, we have been going to Twin Falls temple. The longer drive deffinately takes more determination and faith that everything will be alright. Before the Boise temple closed, we were promised that, if we made it a goal and a point to attend the temple each month, we would financially be able to attend. There have been some months where we prayed to know what to do. We set the date to go and relied on the Lord to make it possible for us. The Lord truly does hear and answer prayers and allows us to accomplish our righteous goals. By attending the temple, we've been able to fortify our relationship with our Father in Heaven, fortify our relationship with one another, and our family.

I am working on my word for next year.... This one will be just right for 2012

A very merry Christmas

What a sweet sweet Christmas this has been! We had sacrament meeting only for church today. The program was so sweet and simple, the spirit was there. We really enjoyed the service!

Before church today, I told the boys that all I want for Christmas is to have a quiet peaceful Christmas with no fighting and arguing :) YAY!!!! It has happened so far :) The boys have all had such good attitudes and have been so helpful :)

After church, we had the opening of the stockings and gifts :) Before Christmas, Kyler had brought home some gifts for everyone from school. As we were opening the gifts that Kyler had "bought" for everyone, he explained to us how he aquired these sweet gifts. Kyler had earned points during school and saved them up. On a particular friday, they had the "point store" where Kyler had the opportunity to spend his points. He told us that he spent his points on buying these gifts for us instead of buying something for himself! How sweet!!!!! It was so touching to hear Kyler's story of love and to see the boys open these gifts that Kyler had thought to get them. He really put a lot of thought into these gifts as well. He knew just what everyone would want. What a blessing Kyler is! He has truly had the Christmas spirit this year :)

The boys also got scarves from their Aunt Sonia :) Blue and gold Middleton vikings colors :) They totally love them :) Kyler has been wearing it since he opened it :)

This Christmas has been so peaceful and so precious! There has been so much love and goodness! I pray that it continues and that the boys have felt the spirit of this Christmas and will desire to have these same feelings throughout the rest of the year and next year :)

Wedding cake!!!

My newest creation!!!! This cake was made for a family friend's daughter :) I just love this family!!!! Joann Perza's sister Kathleen Frazier asked me to make her daughter's wedding cake :) I had so much fun with this one and enjoyed every minute of making and decorating it :)

All of these cake creations could not and would not be possible if it weren't for my Heavenly Father blessing me and my hands!!! I am so thankful for this talent. Everytime I make a wedding cake, I say a prayer and ask that Heavenly Father's love for the bride and groom shine through the cake. I am His hands, and it truly does take a touch of the Master's hands to create such wonderful, beautiful works of art.

A blessing in the making

The other day I was invited by a friend to attend a class. I had been asking about some essential oils that may be able to help Brandon with his blood condition. She was in the area and doing a class on tuesday evening, therefore invited me to attend and learn more about these oils.

The class was wonderful! I learned a lot about these essential oils and the benefits and blessings of these particular oils. doTerra is the name of the company that manufactures these oils...they are harvested from their native origin (lemon in italy, lavendar in france). By harvesting in the native home, you receive the most pure oil that our bodies naturally know how to communicate with. Heavenly Father has blessed this earth with all that we need for our lives and health!

I signed up to try these oils and talked to a few of the ladies at the class. We decided that we needed to try a few different oils on Brandon to see how his body takes to them and how they help him. I bought grapefruit, zendocrine, and recieved a starter kit of lavendar, lemon and peppermint oils. Each of these oils does different things for our body's benefit and health.

Grapefruit helps with cancer, depression, liver disorders, migraines, stress, lymphatic system, and many other things.

Lemon helps with food poisoning, blood pressure, liver problems, arthritis, muscle aches and pains...it cleanses the air, disinfects, helps with colds, fever, infections, white blood cell formation, and many many more things.

Zendocrine helps with organ cleansing, healthy tissue function...this is a combination of clove, grapefruit, rosemary, and geranium

These three are the oils that I've been using for Brandon since tuesday when I got them. I use two drops of each on each foot and massage them onto his feet. I have also put 1-2 drops of lemon in a glass of water for him to drink.

So far, after massaging the oils onto Brandon's feet for 4 days, I have noticed that a rash that he had around his waist and arms is beginning to fade. The rash is almost gone from his waist, and is fading from his arms. His mood level is more positive and he seems to feel overall better :)

I want to document his progress and continue to do more documenting as I obtain more oils for my family and test them out. I am so grateful for the blessing of friends who are inspired and guided to help my family. I pray that I may be able to help others as these friends have done for me. If you are interested in checking out my website, I have made one and will post a link on the blog so you can check it out as often as you would like :)

I look forward to learning more about doTerra essential oils and how I can help my family and friends improve the quality of our lives!

Happy 13th birthday Josh!!!

13 years ago, we welcomed our third little boy into this world and our hearts! Josh has been such a blessing to our family. He has such a sweet spirit and a kind heart. Josh is so kind to others. He's a good friend to everyone! I just love him to pieces my Joshua Merritt!

Josh got his middle name from my Grandpa Snowberger, he's just like my Grandpa in how good a person he is. One thing that Josh does that just melts my heart is that he comes up and gives me a hug whenever he can. Joshy hugs are sooooo good!!!!

He used to have a nickname of "sunshine committee" He was always a ray of sunshine with his smiles and laughter and loves. One year, when we were going through a miscarriage, we were at a marriage retreat. We came home, my mom was watching the boys, and Josh saw us come through the door...he ran to me and just hugged me. He was extra happy and cheerful for the next few days. What a sweet special blessing it is to have such a wonderful young man in our family.

Josh has loved being in young mens, going to scout camp, APC, and camping. He's grown both physically and spiritually.

Josh also shares his special birthday with his Grandma Cook! Both wonderful, special people in our lives! Here's to you mom and Josh!!!! May you have a very blessed day and know that you are so loved! May this year bring you all that the Father has in store for you!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

NOVEMBER!!!!

It's NOVEMBER!!!! We've made it through football, marching band competitions, football awards parties, going over the hill everyday for practice....and enjoyed every ....well mostly every minute of it :)

Now, it's time to turn our focus to those things we are most thankful for. We have been so very blessed this year and have so much to be thankful for.

I am thankful for:

#1 My Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ for blessing our family with so many wonderful blessings. The Savior makes this life possible and eternal life attainable! I am so grateful for my close relationship with my Heavenly Father and Savior.

#2 My family, we have had so many fun times this year...tears of sadness and tears of joy...so many memories have been made this year it's wonderful!!! My husband and my children are my closest friends. This year, I feel as though I've grown closer to them than any other time...maybe it's a different kind of growth from just mother to mother and friend. We have had some amazing discussions and chats...as well as played around a lot and had some great laughs!!!
#3 The opportunity to go to Texas this year and take the whole family to meet my brother Don and all the family down there! We didn't get to see my sister Amy or Misty, so...oh darn we'll have to go next year ;) We had a great time getting to Texas and coming back, but had the best time just visiting and hanging out with Don and Mary. The boys were able to see why I think my big brother is so cool!

I can't wait to post more thankfullness this month :) May we all focus on those blessings of the year and remember them and express our gratitude for them, this month and always.

Long time.....

It's been a long time since I posted something, but so much has been going on. Football mainly hahaha....

The boys had an awesome football season and it's FINALLY OVER!!! I am excited that football is finally over, yet sad at the same time. We have been going over the hill back to Emmett everyday for practices for the boys. It has been a huge stresser and a ton of money on gas, but it was what we needed to do and helped make the transition easier on the three younger boys.

Kyler has done a lot better in flag football this year :) He's learned a lot more and has gotten several flags during his games. Kyler will be playing tackle next year YAY!!!! He's looking forward to that :)

Dallin did an AMAZING job this year with several quarterback sacks. He's a tackling machine!!! Although, they only won one game, the Wallace huskies did a great job on defense and offense :) I can't wait to see him play next year!!!

Josh's team had an undeafeated season until the playoffs...the very last game yesterday, they went up against Meridian White and held them to only 14 points when no other teams during the season could do that. They lost their game after a long hard fight 14-8 The Kenny Keene huskies had the best season anyone could ever have asked for!!!! Josh did soooo goood at defensive line!!! He got several awesome tackles stopping the ball!!!!

Yesterday, I was thinking about next years football season and got really sad at the realization that...those teamates that the boys have grown close to are now going to be opponents :'( It really makes me want to cry when I think about Dallin and his team...those kids have been so close in school and on the field.

License to drive!!!

I never thought I would like the day that Aaron got his drivers license....it's a sign that my children are growing up...this day came way to fast... however!!!! I am soooo grateful that he does have his license now.

Aaron got his license...well a temporary one this afternoon. It was so nice to be able to have him go do the taxiing and take the boys to and from scouts and mutual! It will be such a relief to have an extra driver to run errands and such!

Thank you so much Aaron for being such a good driver and so helpful! I love you :)

True doctrine for all to remember

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOrcqqpHCt8

This was shared at our adult session of stake conference tonight. What a powerful reminder. The stake President shared this point of doctrine. "I am a child of God. And He has sent me here" What a powerful, lifechanging statement that can have on any one of us and all of us.

I am so very greatful to KNOW that I am a child of God. I am one of His sweet daughters. He sent me to this earth, at this time for a purpose. I know He knows each one of us personally and knows our trials. He knows the desires of our hearts. He wants to bless us with so much.

May we remember that each of us is a child of God and treat each other that way.

Trials

Trials, lately for our family, seem to come in waves or torrents. Although, during these trials there have been many sweet blessings as well.

We were blessed to be able to move into Tim's grandma's house to rent a less expensive home. In doing this, Heavenly Father knew what was coming... moving short distances is more expensive than just up and moving because you make multiple trips. I'm not complaining about it one bit, I really appreciated being able to pack a little and move it and organize it and reuse boxes... It was in a way less stressful... in it's own way.

We've been welcomed with open arms into the ward and schools. Tim and I both have callings now and things are going well with church. We have so many instant friends and family in the ward and stake. I went to school with some, we knew some from New Plymouth and Emmett, and Tim's cousin Gary and his family are in our ward. The feelings moving into this home have been different from any other place we've moved into...

Now, we're trying to get settled and get things on the upward swing, the trials are mounting... our suburban has decided to get tired and is not working right. Tim has been blessed with wisdom and knowledge so far to fix it as far as he can... now it sits in the driveway waiting for a timing issue to be fixed, which is out of our realm of understanding after he's tried everything he can think of.... at the same time, Brandon has begun to have a flair up of his Evan's syndrome and is in the hospital until tomorrow at least.... there are other little trials as well...those are the biggest ones though

Although these trials are mounting, I feel somewhat at peace that everything is in the Lord's hands. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan and I know that He's working mighty miracles. I hold onto the faith that those important things will all be alright in the end. I love my Father in Heaven and am so grateful for the peace that He's giving.

I love my husband and my children so very much. I am grateful that we can be going through these trials together and that we are doing those things we need to do in order for blessings to come :) I know that there are blessings happening and I am so very aware of those sweet tender mercies that our Heavenly Father is granting. What a wonderful blessing to know that Heavenly Father is aware of our family and hears our prayers. I know that He is working mighty miracles and has His hand in all things. I know He's there and loves us.

Getting creative

Yesterday when I was getting ready for my Premier Designs Jewelry party, I wanted to make some cookies. Of course I can't make any cookies or much of anything really requiring a stove or oven.

I remembered, when I was little I had wanted to make cookies at Grammy's house with Nina. Grammy pulled out her recipe book and showed us a recipe for cookies made with a waffle iron instead of an oven. It was a hot summer day, so naturally, Grammy didn't want the house to get hot, but far be it from Grammy to tell us we can't do something creative. Grammy always had something fun for us to do, or showed us something fun to do :) Nina and I made these waffle cookies and had a wonderful time making them and then going outside with the portable radio and listening to it under the shade of one of the lilac bushes and ate some cookies :)

Although, I don't have the exact recipe, I adapted it to make them with a brownie mix and used my belgian waffle maker. The cookies were so yummy and so full of memories :)

Today, Dallin wanted to make the cookies and have some more to share with our family :) yummy yummy yummy!!!!

FOOTBALL!!!!! Big day at BSU!!!

The boys had a wonderful time at BSU saturday playing football!!! This year, we didn't have to be there super early or stay super late. Josh had his game at 11:30ish. Dallin had his at 12:15 ish and Kyler at 1ish so it was a rush to get everyone to where they needed to be for pictures and games, but we were all able to watch everyone play. The only exception was that Dallin had to be with his team while Josh played, so Dallin missed watching Josh.

Josh #67 played offensive line and did very well. He got in on some tackles. He didn't get to play on the blue turf this year, but he did get to play in the field house...the practice field for BSU. It was nice to be able to get up closer to see him and get some closer pictures :) He didn't look like so much of an ant this year :)

Dallin #24 played hmmmm... he plays both offense and defense line. I don't remember exactly which one he played saturday, but either way HE'S A MACHINE!!! I would NOT want to be tackled by that boy!!! When he hits, he hits hard!!!! Dallin did very well and got some good tackles, even though they lost their game... they played the toughest team they'll play all year. This other team was from woodriver. There aren't many players, so they combined the sophomores and juniors, so kids that are Josh's age that can make weight in the sophomore range can play. It was intense and brutal, but they did very very well :)

Kyler. #8.. when he focused he did very well. lol He is really a huge social butterfly lol. When his team was lining up on the line to play, he was standing there talking to the ref like they were bff or something hahahaha...what a goofy boy!!! Kyler did well at working on getting flags :)

The games are going to be interesting this year... getting to them anyway. We're hoping they're not to complicated, but it sounds like they might get that way in October....fingers crossed

hahahah oh yeah.... we also saw the BSU football team :) They were down where all the players were and stopped and talked to them and shook hands. It was so cool for the boys!!! Although, I don't think that they shook any of my boys hands :( They thought it was soooo awesome to see Kellan Moore!!! although he's not in this picture... he's #11

FOOTBALL!!!

Tomorrow the little boys will be playing at BSU!!! They start their season of games with a jamboree! They've all been working and playing hard... it's going to be a great season!

Dallin is the main tackle on defence. Josh is playing offensive tackle. And Kyler... well... let's hope he just focuses and plays lol.... not with the grass or other kiddos lol.

It will be a whirlwind morning, but looks to be a great one for football!!! Let's go Huskies!!

Pictures to follow

Grateful for LITTLE things!!!

We are moved into the house in Middleton, yet we have no stove...but that's not stopping me from cooking a home cooked meal for my family.
I am so grateful for small appliances...especially my rice cooker and my Foreman grill. The other day, I was thinking to myself... "I need a stove so I can cook dinner..." Then I thought again "wait a second, I have a griddle, I have a rice cooker and I have a foreman grill and a bbq grill" What wonderful inventions these have been :)

Just a little food for thought... it's not the BIG things that make life sweet, it's the little things and mean A LOT!!!! We did truly enjoy our homecooked meal tonight... after a week of micorwaved meals or quick fix dinners.

My favorite place in the house

I have found that my favorite place in the house is on my knees. Anywhere that I'm on my knees and speaking directly to my Father in Heaven is my favorite place to be.

Over the span of my life, I have always found great comfort and peace in prayer. I know this is a blessing and am so very grateful for this blessing. I'm grateful for the personal relationship that I have with my Heavenly Father. I have always felt very close to my Father in Heaven and have had some very special experiences... which I'm not going to speak of here..this isn't the place.

For the past few weeks, I've felt an even closer connection with Him when I kneel to pray and throughout the day as I'm going about my work.

I don't know why I'm writing this here and at this time of night, but I felt impressed to do so. I feel that I need to share.

I love my Heavenly Father. I know that He has blessed me from the beginning with a keen sense of knowing exactly who I am and where I came from. He has been my closest friend along with my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that I have been blessed with miracles beyond my comprehension many times. I know that there is a specific plan for me here on this earth. I feel and know that Heavenly Father has placed specific people in my life at certain times to bless me and for me to bless them. His plan is perfect and we are all part of it. I know that Heavenly Father has blessed me with a big heart capable of loving all unconditionally, yet capable of being hurt and feeling indescribable pain and anguish for my own sins and for others as well. I love with all my heart and soul... there is always room in my heart for more people to love... it's who I am.

I can not express my gratitude enough for all that I have been blessed with, for the miracles, friends, loves, everything. So many songs come to my mind as I think about and feel this gratitude and love. I am so very grateful that I can have access to my Father in Heaven wherever I am and whenever I want...all I have to do is open my mouth and heart. No words need to be uttered, only the speaking of my spirit to Him. He hears prayers, He answers prayers, He wants to bless us with blessings beyond our understanding. He wants us to come to Him, to talk to Him.

You who read this and those who don't, you are in my prayers always. I love you all beyond words. If you were ever in my life and heart, you will always be. I am so grateful to have you in my life and share this earthly experience with you. I am grateful for every memory that I have been blessed with and look forward to many many more. I am grateful for the love and look forward to expanding this loving heart that Heavenly Father has blessed me with.

I'm not trying to brag, just filled with so much emotion and gratitude that I had to share. I love you all. May the Lord bless you with those blessings that He desires to bless you. Let Him in your heart and lives.

HOME

For two years we've called this place "home" . It felt right when Colleen Higley told me about it. It felt right when I saw the online ad and pictures. It felt right the whole time during church that sunday when I could focus on nothing more than this house in Emmett for rent. That day, Diane Brissette was texting me, telling me that their family was going to sacrament meeting and then heading to Hermiston to help us pack and load up.....

After church, I got on the phone with the property management company to find out about the house. Another friend from New Plymouth had found another house in Fruitland for us to look at. We made an appointment to see the house in Emmett for tuesday sometime.

Monday, we loaded the trailer and emptied the house. Tuesday, we drove to Idaho with no solid deal for a home to live in. We saw the Fruitland home, then the Emmett home... as we walked through the doors of 1158 Kaetzel way, we knew we were home. We were moved in and settling within two hours of our first seeing the house.

Now, two years later, we are preparing to say goodbye to this home we've loved for this time. It is a bittersweet farewell. We knew the time would be short when we began to rent this house. Now the time has come that we have an amazing opportunity to finally be able to save up to buy a house and cut our rent in half...literally... We are sad to leave Emmett, but the boys will still be playing for the huskies through optimist football :) The coaches...Dallin's coaches were not on speaking terms with us for a while until we told them we were going to bring the boys back to play each day :) It's going to be quite an adventure leaving this home we've loved, but we are so grateful for the chance once again buy a home in a year or so.

We went to our new ward yesterday and were welcomed by so many. There are family and friends already in our ward and in our new town of Middleton Idaho. It will be a great new experience for our family.

Aaron is looking forward to a new larger marching band and football. All of the boys are excited to go to a new school and be closer to some fun things and meet new friends and keep the old :)

What a blessing this is going to be for our family.. I am so very grateful to my dear friend Colleen for finding this Emmett home for us two years ago. It has been such a blessing to be closer to family and friends who have loved our family and supported our family throughout these two years.

Boys and Brownies

Even though I am a mother of 5 boys and not a single girl in the bunch, my boys have learned some great homemaking skills :)

I've taken from my experiences, the opportunity to prepare my boys to be fathers and husbands and good missionaries. Each one of them has had some great times in the kitchen sharing and learning how to cook many different things from snacks to breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Aaron has been such a huge help this past year for me and has made so many dinners. He's gotten creative and made some super yummy dishes and some have been huge learning experiences for him. Even the rough times haven't scared him away from cooking, for which I am so grateful.

Dallin has shown an interest in learning how to cook this past year as well as Josh. They've learned how to make jello, pudding, cookies.

This afternoon, I asked Aaron to make some brownies. Dallin asked if he could make them instead...so Dallin got to make brownies on his own for the first time today :) I was in the kitchen making queso for dinner and supervising Dallin's brownie making. He did a great job and made some very tasty brownies :)

What a blessing that my boys are willing and eager to learn how to cook. That is one area that I don't worry about them, they will be able to feed themselves and their roomates, companions and wives :)

Happy 4th of July!

What a blessing to live in such a wonderful time and a wonderful country. We have so many freedoms and are so blessed to be able to continue some of those freedoms... .I pray that th Lord will continue to bless us that we may be able to share these freedoms with others.

I am so very grateful for all those who have gone before and have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. I thank each and every one who still continues to sacrifice for our great country!

In our travels this past month, we have been so blessed to see some amazingly beautiful country. Each scene and picture I took was a reminder to me how blessed we really are. There is so much beauty that God has created in the natural landscapes from sea to sea. We saw such majesty in the snow covered sawtooth mountains of Idaho.... deep red and flat plains of Texas... We saw so many colors of the gorges in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and more majestic mountains of Utah. What a blessing to have had this opportunity and the privilage of being able to travel freely from state to state :)

I am filled with gratitude today.... Thank you!!! God bless the USA!!!

Happy 4th of July from the Hallam's!!!!

HOME!!!!

We're home now! What an adventure! Pictures to follow at some point lol.... the hardest part about a vacation is getting home and unpacking and getting back to the grind lol... Although there is a ton to do to get things back in order, it was so nice yesterday to realize that I don't HAVE to buy groceries in order for us to eat.... WE HAVE FOOD IN OUR FREEZER AND PANTRY!!!! Thanks to a wonderful couponing teacher and some sweet deals!!!!

Since we had some time to choose our own adventure home, we decided to stop at places we had talked about going to one day.... Monday was the day!!! Craters of the moon, Sun Valley, Pepperidge Farm thrift store, Indian reservation for fireworks, driving through the Sawtooths!!! All things on my bucket list lol.... not to add to it :)

Cooling off in Texas!!!

Tuesday we went to Lubbock Rampage water park. The temperatures have been in the 100s since before we got here to Lubbock and the wind has blown so bad since we got here most afternoons. We decided to take a day and relax in some cool water and a lazy river and tide pool :)

The boys all had a great time playing in the water and racing down the slides. When we first got to the park, there weren't many people there, but by the time we left there were a ton of people at the park.

I think Kyler's favorite part of swimming was the fact that he could push and pull the tubes around the river while the floater relaxed lol.... He pulled and pushed Tim around the river a few times; then he did the same for Aaron.

In the tide pool, we all got on our tubes and got into the middle of the pool at the front of the wave pool where the waves were made. We held onto each others tubes and enjoyed some big waves....that was really fun although there are no pictures.... I need to invest in a waterproof camera I think hehehehe ;)

We stayed from noon to about 4pm, then went for some ice cream...errr frozen custard YUMMY!!!!! For dinner, we brought home some J&M BBQ super yummmy!!!!!
